Nintendo entertainment system music videos

October 27th, 2009 6 comments

If you like retro and the old times like I do, and with this I’m talking of those times when a cell phone was a luxury item impossible to fit in a pocket or the faster (and only computer) was the comodore 64, then you will like these 2 videos… Both videos have a nice Nintendo flavor!

They were recommended to me and they are from 2 different artists from Sweden.

The first one is more like the style of music I listen to.  Wahlström & Valiant a Swede artistic duet or as they call themselves, the  electro-break-beat duo with a passion for retro sounds (which I totally agree).

This two guys that come from a different musical background did a good job by joining forces and mixing their styles. I am getting to know their music meanwhile I am writing here and I know they will go to my personal music library!

Check out this video, I hope you enjoy it as I did! 😉

This second artist as I said before is also from Sweden, though his roots come from South America like me.

His style is completely different to the other band I just mentioned, as he is deep into hip hop.

Pato Pooh is a young and talented artist that has been into the Swedish hip hop scene since 2002 and keeps it going. Winner of several awards and who has also a record company!!! Yes, he is 24 and he seems to be doing a great job! He writes and produces for other artists in parallel to his own music. Clap clap, chico! :).

So let’s go back to retro and check his video too. I loved it! Btw, did I forget to mention that he has just released his new album?

Enjoy 😉

What a “Bad Man”!

but what a great performance our friend did!              We attended a friend’s release party this Friday.

Rigo in action!

Rigo in action!

The venue? Lilla Hotellbaren / Hotel Scandic Malmen. The artist? The charismatic Rigo (he is best known as one of the two front figures in the Infinite Mass) who was presenting his new soloist album: Bad Man.

The show? A wonderful performance with a great band and a special drummer (Povel Ohlsson! 😉 ).

It was fun, entertaining and he left us wanting for more! It was the Hell of a party!

After the show, music, drinks and chitchat!

“Massive attack” show brought back old memories…

LSDA & Natubella

LSDA & Natubella

I read in a magazine that they were touring and they were coming here to Stockholm and I couldn’t help to remember when I was part of LSDA and we shared stage with them. It was not only a magical night, but an honour for us to be part of that big festival and play before them. It’s not necessary clarify that our performance was great and the audience loved Fernando Montemurro’s work (Creator of LSDA and also a good friend and one of the producer of “Little Devil“)  😛

Going back to Massive Attack, they have been always great influence, so as you can imagine, I couldn’t hold myself and I bought tickets for the event (no way I was gonna miss it). Nordic king was dragged with me (he has no choice as I have been attending , hehe!).

The show was superb. They played a lot of “oldies” which I personally love and the gig was entertaining, lively and with an impeccable  aesthetic. The lighting and the images were elaborated and fit perfectly with the songs and what they wanted to communicate. “Tear drop” version, was flawless!

I would have liked to have a better camera with me, but I only had my phone… so the pictures are not the best, but will give you an idea of how it was.

I also added some pictures of 2006, when we performed in the same festival than them.

Modern torture!

I was walking home, crossing through the galleria heading to the subway.

I know this place like the palm of my hand and to be honest, there is nothing surprising in the shops that are there, so my walk was fast.

But this time, an incense aroma and this exotic soft music, caught my attention. I looked and I saw this little sweet Chinese trying to catch my attention. She was promoting this new shop there and she offered me a free consultation.

I looked inside the shop and I saw a lot of jars full of herbs with weird inscriptions. The music and the lighting all inviting me to go in, so I accepted (not before realizing that they offered acupuncture and massages).

This sweet old and small Chinese dr interviewed me. It was a bit hard, she speaks Chinese mainly, some Swedish and almost no English… I hardly speak Swedish, but I managed to make myself clear about me, my back and my stress!

She invited me to go into a room… she would cure me!

What happened after was kinda bizarre… Me on the torture bed with this woman needling me from top to toe! She placed a heater over my back, warming me a little bit too much! Then I was left alone for a while.

My head soar and pulsating for the pain (one of the needles was hurting me crazy). My lower back felt paralyzed and my neck burning in flames thanks to the heater. I tried to move… to make some noise… something! -someone there??? I’m buuuuuuuurning– but no response.

You know when you are in those situations it’s really hard, because if you speak, you move or even if you think it feels like you shouldn’t, you are there, you accepted the terms and if you say something, it’s not allowed! 😛

Anyway, after some minutes, which seemed to be eternal for me, the heater stopped -thank God it has a timer!– The sweet old lady came in and she ask me: all good??? in her limited english. Well, I started to say… but she didn’t wait for my answer and she removed all the needles fast before I could snooze! –relieeeeeeeeef!

I was still on the bench, on my stomach, laying there, not knowing what to do or what she was doing… I heard her moving and touching things. She approached me again. I said: Is it finished? She: nonono! And right after I heard she used a lighter –will she set me on fire?– then without letting me ask, she placed something in my back, that suck a piece of my skin! (cupping therapy) –OMG!

At that point I just left myself go… The cupping was not that dramatic and I actually started to enjoy it… but this little old lady had something else for me, so after 10 minutes she returned and she gave me a HAAAAAARD massage, meanwhile she was asking: Painful? Painful? (I wonder if it was sadism what made her ask!) OF COUUUUUUURSE!!!!

The session ended and I actually was feeling GOOD! So I rebook it for next week 😛

Here are some pictures that will show you what I’ve been through…

brunch, wildernes and football in Stockholm, what a Saturday!!

October 11th, 2009 20 comments

My Saturday started late… as you already know I am a creature of the night, therefore my days end really late (or early depending on the point of view) and start close to midday (rock & roll life style, yeah!). We woke up fast, dressed quickly and run to meet another of my friends/producer Lars Nyström. It was his Birthday so we invited him to have lunch with us (Nordic King & me). We had a sleepy wonderful brunch in a lovely place of Stockholm.

After that and referring to the title, Nordic king and me went to the beautiful park Skansen full of Swedish animals and typical old farms.

Beautiful weather, nice scenery and great company! What else would you ask?!

After one hour of nature we run back home in a picturesque rail-car (rail-buss). We arrived right on time to baked some home made pizzas (yeah! I made them! I love cooking) and we got ready for the football game: Denmark vs Sweden (Sweden lost so there are no chances for them to go to the world cup :( Let’s see how Argentina behaves!).

Here some of the pictures I took

Friday night, not much plans until I received a msg from my friend/producer Povel Ohlsson inviting me to a gig where he was playing.

The artist he was playing with is Johan Kinde, a Swede singer/songwriter that had his shinny moment in the late 70s’ when he was part and head of a pop band named Lustans Lakejer.

The show was interesting and the audience even better! (but I keep that for myself 😉 ). He is presenting  his new work, though I can say that he played some “oldies” due to his fan’s reactions.

Everyone had a great time! And Povel, impeccable in the drums as usual.

Here some pictures of that night!

And if you want to hear some of his music, you can go to his myspace here: Johan Kinde

a broken voice in a recording session!

October 8th, 2009 40 comments

Last night and even though my voice is still affected by the flu, we had an awesome recording session here in Stockholm.

I prepared my voice at home, some vocalization and breathing exercises… and that was enough to get it as perfect as I could! It was a whisky/wasted voice, but sexy as hell! 😛 so I decided to take advantage on it and I think it paid off! But you will be the judges.

It was exciting session with my producer and friend Povel Ohlsson (you can see some pictures of me an him here, in an old post). He is great and he certainly knows how to get me in the right mood!

I can’t wait for you to listen to the results, but the production is not completely done… Povel needs to fix it a bit before it’s perfect… But soon I will be posting it 😀

completely recovered, so let’s kick some a@s!

October 1st, 2009 18 comments

Even though I was technically feeling better, my body refused to get 100% well… I’m afraid to say it loud, but I think I nailed it now and I’m completely restored… I have over slept and my work was reduced to the minimum amount, that was the remedy.

Now, let’s see how things go from now on!

For next week I have studio sessions (yes, recording some vocals and working on some remixes) and I start rehearsing!  So I’m back on track! This fall is full of expectation and projects, let’s see how everything turns! I’m excited! :)

I will keep you posted 😉
