Eurovision song contest 2010, a big musical European event!

May 30th, 2010 4 comments

For those who haven’t heard about it, the Eurovision Song Contest is a special event that gathers most of European countries in a musical competition.

1 Song from each country competes for the 1st place and people are the ones that choose the winner. The show is held in the city of the former winner (from the year before).  The genres that compete are different but most of the songs have a strong pop flavor.

The first prize was taken by Lena Meyer Landrut, from Germany this year.

So here it goes the winner song “Satellite”  (I also include one song that I liked too but it didn’t make it):

And the other song I liked  ” Sweet People” by Alyosha, from Ukraine :

The angel of death…

May 30th, 2010 4 comments

That’s how I often refer, ironically, about my mother or my grandma… why? Because in general every time I talk to them, they tell me about someone that has passed away… Well, now it’s my angel of death moment (my 3 last posts are the proof!)! I know, I know, the next posts will not be about dead, I promise!… but we embrace birth with joy and hope, why can’t we try to see dead from a more positive point of view… it’s still part of life, right?

Anyway I won’t make this longer. My respects and a big goodbye to Denis Hooper and to Gary Coleman.

2 small videos about them:

Gustavo Cerati – Argentine artist songwriter

May 25th, 2010 16 comments

I read that Gustavo Cerati is going through some health problems (he had a stroke after a show in Venezuela and he is still there until he gets better) and I decided to do a small post about him. I wish he get well soon, of course and with my wishes, here it goes some info and a video of his work .

Gustavo Adrián Cerati Clark (born August 11, 1959) is an Argentine artist and songwriter. During the 1980s and 90s he was a member of the Argentine rock band Soda Stereo , along with Charly Alberti and Zeta Bosio (remember I had played with him, right?) . In the early 90s, with Amor Amarillo, he pursued a solo career”

Watch his last video, “Rapto”:

Metal legend Ronnie James Dio dead…

Not long ago I did a cover song of Black Sabbath, remember? NIB

So it felt like posting about Ronnie James Dio, the singer who replaced Ozzy Osbourne in Black Sabbath and who died at age 67… what happened? life! It doesn’t matter actually how, does it? well, it was not a murder and not a suicide…

Anyway, I just wanted to say good bye to a great voice! RIP

Gröna Lund’s “Insane” roller coaster, brief but intense!

May 15th, 2010 86 comments

I love amusement parks, I love roller coasters and Stockholm has both and good ones!

I went to this amusement park: Gröna Lund in Stockholm Sweden, yesterday. I didn’t want to rise my hopes up, knowing that Swedes are pretty conservative and kind of shy… in a way (believe me, I have been here for a while!). But I rushed my judgment. Not only the park was full of people, even though it was a rainy day, but I realized that when they want to have fun, they go for it with no restrain! Check “Insane” one of the roller coaster of the park and its main attraction these days! The ride doesn’t last long and I think it’s for the best! See it for yourselves 😉

Needless to say, I had crazy fun, wouldn’t have you? 😀

“Paparazzi” by Greyson Michael Chance

I have not much to say except two things, I regained my interest in You Tube (yes, I was kinda bored about it lately) and I found another amazing performance there…

Enjoy this little but greatly talented kid (12 years old! damn, I am so envious!) performing in a piano an exquisite version of Lady Gaga’s “Paparazzi”:

Amazing octogenarian surprises the world in “Britain’s Got Talent 2010″! Meet Janey Cutler

She is a little sweet old lady (she reminds me my grandma in a way)… but be prepared, because when she decides to open her mouth to sing, a massive voice would fill you up with emotions (yes, even though what she sings is not within my favorite music style, I fall in love with her 😉 ).

Christina Aguilera “Not myself tonight” any resemblance with Lady Gaga’s videos???

May 4th, 2010 35 comments

I have read somewhere that they referred to her like Christina Gagalera… and they insinuate that she had tried to copy the Lady in a desperate attempt of getting more attention… What I think is that if you cannot beat them, just join them, right? (what’s the point of reinventing the wheel) And Xtina did something like that with her new release “Not Myself Tonight”… but not copying the whole formula, not. If I have to point some differences I would say that Christina Aguilera is much commercial and Lady Gaga is more edgy when it comes to define her videos… but watch for yourself!

Swedish bonfire! Witches run away!

May 1st, 2010 10 comments

It is not related to witches actually! Yesterday and as every year, the Swedes gathered around a big bonfire like trying to scare the last chill days away… does it really work? Is the winter gone for good?  Ummm, I’ll tell you soon (so far everything remains cold! brrrrrrr).
